From Rondeau Prov. Park a few weeks ago. Third in the warbler series. I had only seen this species once or twice before, so I was pleased to find one (actually someone else spotted it) in a thicket. This species likes the undergrowth, making an eye-level shot possible but often causing uneven forest lighting, as here. Flash didn't fire -- I got so excited seeing the bird that I may have forgotten to turn it on. C&C always appreciated.
Bill, I laughed at your story because I would do the same thing, buck fever with a camera and bird.
It would have been nice to get rid of the blotchy light but still a nice image although it looks a bit soft on my work monitor. Maybe some more sharpening.
Hi Bill, nicely in the open considering you say they hide in the undergrowth. Yellows and grey's always look great together as on this fellow, and I do like your BG. Im fine with the leaves in the ULC, but find the perch coming out his back a bit distracting.
Thank you all for looking. I had persuaded myself that I needed to keep the right-hand branch, since it was the main part of the branch. But here it is without it, and it does look much better. I also did a little dodging and burning on the uneven light, and a little more USM [maybe a little too much, as I look at the preview]. Just goes to show the value of having a bunch extra eyes from all you great folks at BPN. Thanks.
Great job on the repost, Bill. Wonderful lighting and comp. I know what you mean about getting excited and what Stan calls buck fever, I get that all the time!
Well I would go ahead and clone out the other stick too. Very nice capture but on my screen the fearher detail in the upper wing covert and belly seems to have been lost. Am really enjoying your warbler series.
Bill, these are not easy to get without setups and all. Well done. good call on the f-stop. Colors and exposure look great. Good work on the repost. Excellent comp.
