It's such a shame that the left wing is slightly clipped, but otherwise I think it is a extreemly good image. Sharp, good DOF and great color. I wish it was mine.

Great job of timing to get the eyes of both Osprey in focus. I'm fine with the blurred wingtips as they emphasize the incoming motion. OOF background suggests the landscape while still popping the subject. Nicely done.

excellent landing Dan, I like the intense look and the wing blur, it is def the peak landing moment. The view of the nest is nice and the 2nd osprey has a good HA and is sharp, works well IMO. Would make the colors slightly warmer (I am seeing very subtle cyan cast)

I really like this one Dan. Good and sharp on both birds. Great BG, clean nest. I am OK with the head/wing merge.I like the slight wing blur- gives a good sense of motion. You are going to have fun at this nest!
You should take a stepladder to bring you up 4 feet or so and see what you can get,

The action is great, the wing/head merge works OK for me, the head stands out well against the blurred wing. Agree about it being a bit cool color temp.

Your shooting angle is very good for a nest shot. Are you shooting from your car? I like Gail's idea, but I would be standing in the back of my truck to get higher!

Gail and Randy, I am hand holding on the bank of a branch of the Columbia River.
The nest is on an old piling, not horrible, but still a man made feature (although that is what most Osprey nests are on around here.)
I can and do shoot from much higher up the sloping bank and look down on the nest. I will maybe post some of those, especially when the chicks are born.
I get water BG if I do that and I like the forest and West hills BG a lot so I shoot at almost eye level to get that.
I am pretty lucky to have this site, it is a quarter mile walk from the road which is 15 minutes from my home.
They are there for a good two months at least. If I had Arash type skills I could get a lot of BIF shots, banking, fish catching,
you name it. I am working on those!

Personally, I just love this one. The background is quite different from most osprey shots, this adds alot. Pose is super, blur is perfect and the nest is interesting with moss and lichen, shooting angle looks fine to me. Looking forward to more, Dan.
