    Hello Everyone,
Just thought that I would post an image of one of my favorite birds the western tanager. This shot taken last week at Cottle Lake near Nanaimo B.C.

    Stats: Canon 1D Mark IV body, 500mm F/4 with 1.4X, ISO 400, f/8 at 1/160, natural light.

    Thanks for your comments,

    Steve

    Steve:

Lovely colors, pleasant BG, clear view on the branch.

The head is a bit soft, looks like the focus was on the back or wing.

Head is turned away a bit.

A bit tight in the frame.

Easy to see why you like these guys!

    Cheers

    Randy

Beautiful bird! Unfortunately it is front focused. Hoping you had a really solid mount for 1/160sec. =)

Gorgeous bird, and I like the cedar surrounding. I agree with the comments above (soft face, better HA), but awesome colours...I too can see why this species is a favorite of yours!

Good advice above. I also vote for some more space around. Colors look great and I also liked the BG. beautiful shot. Focus on head or shoulder would have made this really good.

Agree with the above and maybe burning in the back a little. Caught the colors nicely.
