    Default Heron? on the hunt

    Hi All

Not sure what this bird is, but I thought it might be a Heron... It was pretty intent on getting its dinner just before sunset last night where I followed it along the rocks at the local marina and took the following image. I eventually gave up on it as it walked into shadows, and wouldent you know it, just as i walked away I heard a squealing sound and turned around to see it with a mouse in its beak. It took the mouse down to the water, drowned it and once it was certain it was dead swallowed it whole...! Not what I expected. I will post some 'not too graphic' images of this later..

    Don:

I really like the strong lines of the bird and rocks he is one, his intense pose, the small eddy or splash at end of rock, all good.
The large, light rocks in the foreground really distract from the main subject. I would def. give a try at lowering their luminosity to match the rocks in the BG, and perhaps try some slight cropping changes to downplay their impact.

    Cheers

Hi Don. This one had a lot of potential but those foreground OOF rocks really hurt the overall image IMO. If it were mine, I'd try cloning them out entirely.

    Hi Don,
Great light and I really like the diagonal lines going through the image. I am with Doug on this one and would clone out most of the middle rock to get rid of the peak.

Another vote for some cloning, although not an easy task. The great diagonal pose makes this one worth some additional effort. I might also be tempted to try some levels adjustment to boost contrast.
