    Default Prothonotary Warbler

You wouldn't think I'd have to go to Panama to get a Prothonotary image, since a few breed locally in New Jersey; but somehow they've always eluded me here. This is from Soberania Lodge in Gamboa, taken near a feeder where he was gorging on bananas. Removed a few branches.

I was determined to get some warbler images this spring. My results have been mixed, as you'll see in the half-dozen images I'll post over the coming weeks, this being the first of the series.

    D7000, 80-400VR @ 400mm, ISO 2000, 1/400s @ f/6.3, HH (braced).

[PS, looking at this as posted, the area around the eye looks like it could use a touch more USM. I was determined not to oversharpen. What do you think?]

Bill, I think this is spectacular. Gorgeous, clean, elegant, great IQ. Everything in focus. Looks tack sharp to me. Congratulations!

Very nice, Bill, beautiful bird, sharp and well exposed.
Tough to get them in the open, very nice work.

Terrific shot, BIll. so hard to get. colors, exp. and detials look great. Sweet Bg, pose and HA. I might be tempted to take a tiny bit off a bottom...but nothing major. fine composition.

A real beauty, Bill. Whatever warblers you got this spring are better than mine, despite my hard work. This is one to be proud of.

Nice image. I like the composition as is with the extra space at the bottom.

Hi Bill, lovely yellows on this fellow, and I like the leaning pose looking into the frame. Im fine with the comp, and the overall sharpness is spot on.

Thank you all for the comments. More warblers to come, although this is probably my favorite of the series.

Beautiful shot! I saw several of these yellow bullets today. They're very speedy so you did well to get one. The BG is perfect. Looking forward to the next!
