My First Image Post... A Sandhill Crane

Hi everyone! This Sandhill Crane greeted me at dawn at the Chapel Hill Nature Trail here in Fort Lauderdale. He came right up to the car!

Taken on 300 2.8 + TC 2x on a 7D.

Kerry...not seeing it either on here, but when I copy and paste the link, I see the image.
It's an extreme closeup of the Crane.

That's the image! The crane was feeding in the grass in the parking lot, then he was curious about the shutter sounds, so he walked very close to the car. He actually got inside on the MFD of my 300 2.8, so I switched to my 70-200 2.8.

Wow... that's tight! Great detail and good job holding the highlights in check. Great looking eye.

If you have room, I would add some on the left and crop some off the right to get the eye out of the center of the frame.

Actually, that is the entire image... The bird was quite close...

Please add your thoughts to the posts of others, we all learn from each other and different perspectives are always welcome. You had a unique opportunity here and I think you did a great job of framing, fast thinking on your part. Please remember to post your technical details as it helps us understand your thinking when you made the image. Exposure, color, and pose are excellent. I think you could get a lot more detail from this file and I would suggest a bit more sharpening. Looking forward to more, keep them coming!

As mentioned above tell us more about the settings for example Manual, Metering method, AF, HH, Tripod, Flash things of the nature. I like the original composition but the upper right hand corner has a triangle and this could be removed with a different crop. Welcome,.now keep em coming!!!!!
