    Default Black Bear Cub

Just got back from STL black bear workshop at Orr, MN. Fantastic photo opps and wonderful company. Thoroughly enjoyed 5 days of shooting and mid day classes with Chas and other participants.
Had an opportunity to meet fellow BPN member Steve Uffman and his wife. Wonderful couple and enjoyed their company very much.

Here is an image of last spring cub.

Very cool Sid, I'm sure there will be some more corkers to come.

    Hi Sid,
like the curious (IMO) look of the cub.Comp work well and colors too.But the shadows look a little bit blocked. Can you rework the image? Would be nice if you could squeeze out some detail!!

    Cheers Andreas

    Andreas,

I did not even think of that until you mentioned it. I like recovered details on the hand but kind of feel too much details in the ear. I think I should go halfway in the ear too.

    Hi Sid,
RP looks better IMO.But you should better start from scratch .Because i now have some weird looking colors on my screen!!! (purple/blue) in the dark areas . For the details it looks quite better.

    Cheers Andreas

I am still working on the same file. I did not close it in photoshop after 1st attempt. I dont see any purple/blue in the image. At what resolution are you viewing?

Sid, The re-post is on the right track. I too would suggest to start over from scratch. The tree closet to the front of the frame, on the right looks a bit funky, the eyes and the nose cone look a bit over sharpened. All that aside, this image rocks. Post some more please. Say hi to James for me.

    Sid,

Marvelous pose here and great framing

Whilst I can see a slight improvement in detail on the repost I also cannot see much of a cast.

Probably because of my cheap and cheerful monitor

Sid, take the repost and run another round of NR on the BG and it is perfect.
A lot of nitpicking really, a very nice photo to begin with.
    Cool pose, comp and subject.

OP looks good to me, I like the pose and the tree on the left edge frames the image giving a strong comp. Nice to see the claws...Good image Sid!

Hi Sid - Great pose and the vertical comp is perfect. I too like the way the trees frame the bear.

Way to go buddy! great image which is just one of many you took. My wife enjoyed meeting you and all the group on Chas's fantastic workshop. Hard to believe all the talent attending and then all the great photo opps..add Chas's expert instruction and it was simply unbeatable.....certainly a 5 star trip IMO

Need to get me a new monitor so I can add a few images to show what it was like there for clearly the rookie of the group.

I see you are already utilising that 70-300mm to good effect, Sid
Lovely bear-in-forest photo. Exposure looks spot on, love the framing by the trees. Can't wait for more.
