Default Osprey with or without nest?

This is the best image I have gotten to date of an Osprey. Unfortunately, the bird did not quite clear the nesting material when I got this image (subsequent images are not quite this sharp). I have attempted to remove the nesting material in another copy of the image, but there is a slight overlap where a branch covers the bird's tail feathers (making this operation a bit tricky). Is it worth removing this branch, or does the context of a nest, from which the bird is departing, make a better image?Name: Osprey IMG_3821.jpg

Tough call. I don't know how much is cropped from the original image, but I would go for an "all or nothing" approach here. If you only have the tip of a few branches, I would probably try to remove these. If it is possible to include the whole nest, then a different composition that would include it might work.

Considering the clear background, with a careful selection job around the tail feathers, removing these branches should not be too complicated in PS.

My vote is to leave it as you have it here, with the nest cause it shows where
he's taken off from vs without the nest and his legs/feet just dangling.

Hi Ron. I think I too would vote to leave it in. Otherwise, you just have the bird against a bland blue sky. Another option would be to remove the nest and add some clouds. I like the pose. I think he could use some sharpening. I always hate to comment on this from my lousy monitor at work, but are the whites on his head too hot?

You could be right Ian about the white. This was afternoon light, but still a bit harsh. I tried to recover some of the lost highlights in the RAW image.
