    Default Spring Rain

This was taken just after the rain ended, and the air was still thick with humidity. If anyone knows what kind of tree this is, please let me know.

Nikon D3s, zoom lens at 400mm, ISO 51,200 (the breeze was strong and very persistent, but this might've been overkill), f/5, 1/8000 sec

    processing
    • Adobe Camera RAW -- Clarity and some saturation and luminance tweaks in HSL
    • very slight crop from the right -- so small I have no idea why
    • There was some superfluous vegetation in the lower right. That was blown away on a duplicate layer with the Lasso Tool and Content Aware Fill, then brought back just a bit with a reduction in layer opacity.
    • three Flypaper Textures textures
    • Nik Color Efex -- Graduated Fog to increase the intensity of the mist already there
    • masked copy of the Background layer with Lighter Color blend mode to bring back the drops, leaves, and flowers at the bottom of the triangle
    • a warm Flypaper Textures texture masked to show only over the leaves and flowers
    • onOne Software -- Photoframe partially masked at the top
    • two layers of Fractalius B&W presets based on Sketch with Multiply blend mode
    • Alien Skin Snap Art -- Stylize Line Art with Divide blend mode for white outlines, partially masked

Dennis, this is a beautiful piece of art. Your filtering work as always is great and the textures and filters give this a luminosity and ethereal quality that I think you were trying to achieve. Really well done.

Dennis, I have no idea what kind of tree it is...but I do know that your composition, processing and filtering of the image you captured are spot on. Serene, pastel colors; almost sensual curves of lines weaving into the image, drawing the eye; subtle textures and lighting throughout. Well done!

Soft, delicate, romantic. Everything you could want in an image. The pale color tones and mist make this special. I really like the framing. Nice work!

Dennis, I looked at the original and said -hmm... it looks noisy-but I was sure I had read that you used a D3 so I thought how could that be-then I re-read your exif and did a double take! I never would have guessed ISO 51,200

Absolutely gorgeous and very calming. The comments above have pretty much said all that I feel.

Beautiful image, Dennis! It has a very Asian feel. The soft colors and textures give it such a peaceful look, exactly like it feels after a spring rain!

Beautifully processed, Dennis! For my taste, I think I'd tone down the edging effect just a little.

Hi Dennis...beautiful image! Really soothing to look at although I would leave off the edge effect....but thats just me! ISO of 51,000 is impressive....I have a D3s but haven't tried to push it this far..THanks for including the original image ...it helps me see the processing effects much better.
