    Default Old Chevy Truck

Took some shots of this old chevy truck parked down the street, a new subject matter for me. Some levels, contrast, and color adjustments in CS5, then a motion blur to smooth out distracting BG. Made adjustments to one of the "special" presets in Nik HDR Effects Pro, then Nik Color Effects Pro - Film EFEX: Nostalgic. Toned down some of bg with soft eraser at low opacity around edges.

Brendan, this looks like a vintage photo. Nicely done. The only thing that is disconcerting to me is the sense of motion because of the angle and the lines in background and no driver

nice vintage look. Maybe stripes are a bit "modern" for such a look? Maybe gaussian? Overall I love the color effects and details of the truck.

Brendan, I love the color pallete and the pan blur effect. Nice job with the background. Would love to see you add a person hanging out of the window with one hand on the wheel for fun! Seriously though it's a great look.

I finally noticed -- before reading the other comments -- that there was no driver, but it's still a very nice image without one. The panning blur is consistent with a vehicle, so I like it. Nice job in masking it, by the way. The only thing I wish is that there were some more canvas on the left, but that's not a deal breaker. You did a very nice treatment of the subject in post processing.

Thanks folks, much appreciated. Wasn't sure about that motion blur either, Cheryl, without a driver and being parked. After fading it with treatment, the lines seemed to give it an illustration look, but maybe reducing them more, using Gausian as Hazel suggests or Denise's idea of adding a driver as would help. Definitely worth some more experimenting! Also agree with you Dennis, maybe little bit of extra room on left.

My first thought was "This old beast is stuck and Time is passing it by." I really like the look your processing brought to this image, Brendan. Also, I just love old trucks!

Thanks, Steve! When I first looked at it with the motion blur, I was thinking maybe a funny title could be: "Going Nowhere Fast"!

Looks like this truck is moving along at a good clip without a driver!! Beautiful soft tones.
