    Default Pano Pelican Preening

Taking a fresh look at some of my Dalmatian Pelican images from Kerkini last year - decided this image really had to be reworked as the PP was gross!

In LR3 I have increased exposure by .30 and used Luminance Noise Reduction overall at 60, detail 50. This time in PS5.1, I have added a little canvas left and straightened, a little eye doctoring, set black & white in levels and made minor adjustments in curves. Local sharpening on the head, Topaz Detail and USM on the bird. Nik Dfine for NR on the background and sharpened bird for output.

Image was made with Canon 1D MkIII, EF 100-400 at 330mm; 1/1600 sec at f/7.1, ISO 800.

    Comments and suggestions most welcome!

    Gerald

I love this! If anything maybe slightly smaller in the frame.

I also love it, maybe a little tight, but I do like even so.

Hi Gerald, excellent detail, and the soft light has helped with the overall exposure. I like the sharpness too. Looking at the comp, it does work as is, but would like to try a version with more space all around, and a little more on the right. Basically placing him in the bottom ROT's.

Hi Guys, Many thanks for the advice and encouragement. Here is a repost with a little more space all round. I think it works well.
