    Default Hobby

Taken while walking around Lee Valley Park yesterday. This one was flying above the river, catching dragonflies then perched on the tree. Not the best quality as it sat quite far from me and I had to crop. I wanted to upload one in flight as well but I'm not allowed as per forum rules.

    Taken with 7D + 400mm f/5.6L
    f 5.6
    1/1000
    iso 500

    I hope you like it

    Piotr:

A big welcome to BPN. You will find it a great place to learn and grow as a nature photographer.

Nice look back pose, pleasant background, the lichens on perch add interest.

The perch however is rather busy. I realize you are crop limited, but I would try to simplify the image by cropping from the left and right to convert it into a vertical.

The image is a little dark and I would consider increasing the exposure.

In a perfect world, would prefer his head be turned to the right, that would make the branches to the left work better as a nice framing device and not truncate his angle of gaze as seen here.

Cheers, and look forward to more.

Thank you Randy. I've got photo with him looking right. I just had a go with PP and it really looks better in terms of composition. I really appreciate your feedback.
