my first macro
I just received a new-to-me macro lens in the mail and of course, ran outside and shot every little bug I could find in the garden--most of them flew away immediately. I'm struggling with flash--trying to get fill without blowing out the entire picture (very bright daylight today). Unfortunately, the best shots were the "did not fire" shots. Going to need to read up on flash/macro/daylight settings.
Here's one of my favorites from the group:
Gear/Settings:
5dm2 w/ 180 3.5 macro (sigma)
ISO 400
1/200 @ f/5.0
-2/3 EV
flash did not fire
handheld
manual focus
Processing in Lightroom 3:
*HUGE* crop
minor sharpening
attempt to correct the blown-out whites = fail

Wow, Celeste, that's a wonderful first attempt! I'm impressed! Nice composition. A touch more DOF would have been nice to get the antennae in-focus, but this one works for me.

Nicely done Celeste. The image is pretty sharp but that lens/body combo is capable of more. Perhaps a little less of a crop would work?
