Some of you might know how much I love parrots. Since I read an article about 5 years ago about Golden-shouldered Parrots in Cape York, Queensland, Australia, I wanted to go there myself. Finally last week my mate and I went on that big adventure. If you google Cape York, you can see how far away from any kind of civilization it is :)
After closed roads and water crossings we finally managed to get up there. Photographying them was much harder than we thought, but we managed a few good images during the few minutes they showed up.
There's about 2000 of these birds left in the wild and they are listed as endangered.
More images and a making of, can be seen on my Blog

Hi Jan, congrats on getting your dream species, and I like your image design in this. Great look back pose, and I like the various colours on this parrot. If anything, I would blend in the small darker area on the edge of the perch LLC. Killer BG.
Its an amazing image, love the bird and the perch, IMO I would try no bright the little shadow on the perch on the left, but although like i said, its amazing.
Sweet light and colours...what a magnificent bird! I agree in blending in that dark spot touching the perch at left. In your blog about this series I'm really digging the one poking out of the tree hole :-)
