A tight crop, maybe too tight for some, but there were branches all around, and I liked the details in the Red Tail hawk.
Another insane D800 crop, about 10% of original, but at iso 400 they hold up pretty well.
    Dappled light in the woods.

Hi Dan, good pose from the Red Tail, and I like the feather detail. We can see the feet and talons nicely, although I would probably lighten that area a touch more. Although you had branches to crop away, what you could now do if you are ok with it, is to add canvas left and top - easy to do with a plain sky BG.

Lovely shot I would brighten the bird just a little bit, I think the head would benefit, I agree with Stu a bit more canvas and you have a super shot.

I would also add some sky as do find the image very tight. Lightening the face would also improve the image. Great looking raptor Dan, hope you got the take-off

I agree it is rather tight in the frame, and it is dark in some spots...but the deatail is impressive for such a crop, at least for web. Beautiful individual here. The head seems softer than the body and perch.

Looks like a young bird? Yes the crop is tight and adding "canvas" would fix that. I like the exposure the way it is though. Works fine for me.
