    Default Rufous Hummingbird

Today was my first attempt at multi-flash hummingbird photography. Its something I have given a fair bit of thought to and really want to do well. My goal is to be able to execute the multi-flash technique - but still have it look like natural lighting.

Today...although frustrating...was also rewarding in that I learned a few things about the technique and managed a few images that I am pleased with. Lots more to learn...lots more practice needed...

I hope you enjoy this one.

    Camera Model: Canon EOS 40D
    Shutter speed: 1/250 sec
    Aperture: 11
    Exposure mode: Manual
    Flash: External Manual - 4 flashes on bird (3 @ 1/16th and 1 @ 1/32nd) and 1 flash in the BG (1/16th).
    ISO: 200
    Lens: EF500mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x

My goal is exactly the same, and I think you've done a good job here Glenn. My only suggestion would be that I'd like to see the gorget better illuminated. I'm going to start doing some multiflash hummers and post them on BPN soon. I'll be interested in your feedback

Very nice! My only wish (and it is a small one) is to see the whole leaf at the upper part of the frame or clone it out.

Well, and a second wish to do some of these myself :D

Well done Glenn!! This is a fantastic result for a first attempt with such a complex technique,. I cannot imagine how can be impreve because this is very good (maybe, too much flash light). Very good composition and action. I hope to see more od this beauties :)

Beautiful image. The setting looks pretty :)
Wish the top leaf wasn't clipped.
