I've been neglecting the birdies a bit .
Here's one I discovered in the archives of a 2010 trip to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa.

This might be an immature Gabar Goshawk, for that matter, never can tell them apart .

    f6.3 @ 1/1600 SS @ ISO-400

    Hi Morkel,
Nice look at the extended legs in take-off and the belly. I am not crazy about the near wing position.
I like the inclusion of the perch and the composition. Love that blue African sky. Light is quite bright- what time was this taken? You will probably say 7:00 am as I know that African sun shines brightly really early.

Actually it's the other way round - about 16h30ish in the afternoon! Golden hour is quite short in the Kalahari, unfortunately...

I really like the far wing position and the light and detail you got on the underside. I like the slight motion blur on the wings as well.

    Hi Morkel,

Definitely Pale Chanting, they are a lot bigger than Gabar's. Nice detail and light in the eye.

Hi Mork, great timing for the take off, and I like the placement in the frame and inclusion of the perch. Sharp where it counts, and well exposed on the underside to have brought out the colours and detail.
