    Sometimes the focal length is to long.

    1DMIV, EF 4/600 & 1.4x III, 1/2000 sec, f/7.1, ISO 800, bean bag.

    I like the vertical comp and the pose of the bird.The raised crest is what makes this shot, I think. I have never seen this bird in real life and wonder if the feathers are dirty or if the brown is part of the coloring. Bg looks a bit noisy to me,

    Cool looking spoonbill. I like the vertical and the grasses at the feet. I would love to see the eye a liittle brighter. Is it red like the Roseate?

    Hi Frank, your comp suits the pose, although a little more room top and bottom wont harm the image. Good detail in the whites, and agree the raised crest adds interest. I wish we could see more of his bill.
