    A big welcome to BPN.

Certainly picked a colorful fellow to start out with! Excellent full wing down pose, pleasant background.

The bird looks a bit overexposed to me, perhaps 1/3 of a stop. Some of the detail would show a bit better if it wasn't quite so bright.

The eye could use a bit more sharpening.

Again, a big welcome to BPN. A great place to learn and grow as a nature photographer.

    Look forward to more.

By the way, how do you prefer to be addressed? We try to be on a first name basis here, to help foster the sense of community.

    Cheers

Hi Jan welcome to BPN...I like this as the wing position is good and the flight angle works well. I see where Randy is coming from regarding exposure (especially the bright parts in the wings), try bring it down a touch. You will get good advice and crits here which will help your already good photography get to the next level.

Welcome to BPN Johan! Like it has been mentioned before you chose a very colourful subject for your introduction! Good advice already given, I will just add that compositionally I feel that palcing your subject a bit more to the left and slightly higher would strenghten it. Well done overall, and hipping to see more from you!!

welcome to BPN Joan, a great first shot I like the BG and flight pose. as noted the image is a bit overexposed and contrasty, the bird also a bit too centered too. great topside view

Well said by Dumay. It's good to see you on here, Johan!! You will only grow on this wonderful forum.
Love the view of this guy's wonderful plumage you got here. The uniform BG is also nice. Randy has a good point on the exposure...should be easy to recover the hot parts.
In an ideal world the head would be turned more towards the viewer
