    Default You Looking at Me?

This Great Blue Heron was photographed at a rookery earlier this season. I like the symmetry of this capture and the wild look and feathers. In order to acquire the entire bird in focus I used F16 am happy with the results.

This pose reminded me of the infamous scene of Robert DeNiro in Taxi Driver looking at himself in the mirror muttering, "Are you looking at me?"

    C & C welcomed and much appreciated.

Technically excellent as is your norm. Love your vision, it's interesting, different, comical, graphic. Good job looking at a common subject in a creative way.

Hi Marina, well thoughout here, and what I like most in this, are the splayed feathers jutting out from the neck. I dont mind that you havent left any space on the sides there, coz if you did, it may create a bit of a squarish comp. You couldnt have placed yourself any straighter to have captured the straight down stare, and the curled crest adds interest.

Interesting and unusual pose Marina! I didn't think I would like it but given you can clearly see the eye......works for me. Great thinking here!

I like it- a lot. Unusual and fun. The fact that you got both eyes perfectly looking down the barrel makes this image work,

F16 worked real well, I love the splayed out feathers, never seen a GBH image just like this one.

Great capture, Marina. Love the comp, pose and action. I saw this splayed neck feather behavior at Venice earlier this year, but alas, wasn't able to capture it nearly as dramatically as you did here. Congrats.

Well seen and executed. so different. I like how you folks down there in Florida make great use of those rookery opportunities to create some of these unusual tight images. very creative. this one will stay in the memory.

Fantastic portrait, Marina. I LOVE it. F16 insured you got everything nice and sharp. It wouldn't have worked half as well if you hadn't. As it is, it really pulls you in. I think i might see some noise in the BG but I'm not sure.
Was this on our outing with Mike? I seem to remember that glare from one of our GBHs!

Not your typical BPN within the box image. I love it.

Have you tried a version accentuating the eyes even more by upping the Sat ?

If you have the time, I'd really appreciate your opinion on my original version of this capture which is just about full frame. Now that I look at them together, not sure which one I prefer and could use some input.

    Thanks.

I like the OP better, it is more in your face and that is what I liked about it.

If you were to print and mat the second one might display better.

I love this Marina. The straight on pose is so different and I like it alot as well as the plumage. If this were mine I would be tempted to work those eyes just a bit more so they really pop. I like both versions but feel the op has more impact.
