    Default Flight of the Spoonbill

    Roseate Spoonbill
    Canon 40D, 500mm f/4 and 1.4x TC
    1/800, f/5.6, ISO 640
    tripod, manual exposure

Last month I had the pleasure of being led on a spoonbill expedition by James Shadle (back-up provided by none other than Arthur Morris)!! The weather was a little less than desired, but the spoonbill whisperer still guided the Hooptie Deux into perfect position and out popped the birds. Gotta give it a go if you are in the area! :)

Perfect always works for me. In lousy conditions, you made a very fine image. Sharp, EXP right-on, and love the wings up position. I had fun being the first mate...

Beautiful bird, beautiful image Judd. I love the wing position that allows the near under wing detail and color to be showcased here. Great BG too, very well done.

Nice Job on this image Judd. It was certainly a wise move to use manual mode for a light bird against a dark background. I suspect the automatic metering would have bombed on this one. Good and sharp too.

I have not forgotten about meeting up at Desoto at some point. I may have one free weekend in May. I'll PM you sometime soon!

    Best!
