Hi Bob, nice capture and detail! The whites are very close to the edge on the coverts, but you got nice detail in all the rest of the plumage. You have also discovered that the word "egret" is derived from the latin "egridi", meaning "to fly away from you". Nice catch of the wing position, would work much better if the bird was parallel to the camera sensor.

Agree with Kerry's assessment. You had a nice fast shutter to stop the action and I like the bits of mud in the air. It usually is the case that these guys will angle away from the camera or even when perched they look slightly away dang it!

I rate the herons/egrets as the number one bird that won't look at me. Woodpeckers are a close second...
