This was done using the tilt-shift tutorial in the upcoming weekly themes sticky. The original was shot from Rock City 6 or 7 years ago. It was from their lookout, high up on the mountain.

For those of you that don't know, a tilt-shift lens can be used to either create great DOF or to create almost no DOF. For the purposes of this theme, the idea is to make something look like it is actually a small model using a photo editor instead of a tilt-shift lens.

Hi Ken; when I first looked at this I thought it was a model railroad miniature...then I read your description. Unique processing and viewpoint...not sure about the strong red in the image from the other building that was blurred from the tilt-shift perspective; my eye is consistently drawn there...and I might evict the twin highlights in just left and below of center, beneath the curve in the road. You definitely achieved your goal of creating a miniature scene!

Ken, thank you so much for providing the tutorial for this theme. I like the effect. John makes a good suggestion regarding the second red building. Very cool!

It looks like a model train set. It is a good example of the tilt-shift process. I would crop, especially off the bottom, and clone the distracting second red building. Thanks.

Ken, thanks for the tutorial and the image. I've got some experimenting to do I agree with the suggestion about the oof red building. Neat work.

Very cool effect Ken. Love the miniature look to it. John makes a good point about the highlights. Nice one!
