The blazing speed of these guys was a real challenge for me! The 5DIII was impressive though- if I could get the focus point on the bird, it would track. 500mm, f/5.6, 1/2000, ISO 200.

    Wow Colin,
These guys are bullets so you nailed it and with a good wing position. Good angle as well,

Well done Colin! Great eye contact and sharpness on a tough subject. I'd consider removing the specular highlights on the bill and cropping a bit off the bottom. Promise me one thing; no more ISO 200 on action shots!

As mentioned by Doug, a higher ISO would render more DOf and shutter speed to get those wings crispy. Great image. Love the plumage too.

Excellent advice. I have to repeat this to myself with the 5D III- ISO 400 is the new ISO 100.....

Thanks for your comments. And yes, it's quite a crop.

excellent this is a tough bird to get in flight and you did well! agree with suggestions regarding ISO. full wings down would be ideal :)

I do have several wing down/up positions as well. Yeah...I thought f5.6 would be enough DOF for these little guys. Thanks for commenting!
