Finally had some time to get out and take some shots and have a little fun.
Flipped this picture of a feather washed up on the beach stones, and it seemed to have a rough outline of a baboon-like face. Then blended in images of a lioness' eyes and a gorilla's nose both taken at the zoo, and my cats mouth. Used soft eraser to further blend in and smooth edges of those layers. Created some eyebrows from cats chin hairs by rotating selections with free transform tool. The flip created two stones on each side at bottom that reminded me of fingers, so copied one, and added a third finger to each side to make it more like hands holding the stones. Some color, levels & contrast adjustments in CS5 and subtle vignette added using burn tool. Sharpening, Topaz Detail, and finally added some structure using Viveza to bring out a bit more texture.

Hey, Brendan, this is wild! I love the fact that the nose is the same color and texture of the rocks but my favorite thing of all about the creation are the fingers

Wonderfully creative work Brendan, well done! What a great tribute to the late Mr. Sendak. I think he would like your creation very much, I know I do!

Magnificent! Unbelievably creative and super well done! Love all the organic elements and textures. I agree with Cheryl, those fingers are the icing on the cake!

Brendan, Very creative and fun image. I think your OOTB thinking for this one is inspiring! It is a tiny bit tight ob the bottom but that tongue is too cute to care!

Thanks folks, much appreciated! Denise, I think you're right about adding a bit more on bottom. Kerry, Where the Wild Things Are was one of my favorite books as a child, and heard the news about Maurice Sendak, so it was on my mind. Such creative illustrations and great story of adventure to activate the imagination. I also liked the movie very much - almost as much as My Life as a Dog.

This image is a little scary and disturbing., which shows that it is excellent and well done.

Thanks Anita, I was trying for more of a wild and exciting look, than scary.
