Default Tough going at Indian Lakes Estates...Sandhill Crane.

Two of my target birds for my trip to Florida were Sandhill Crane and Limpkin. I got good pictures of both of these species at Indian Lakes Estates, as well as Turkey Vulture, Cattle Egret, Osprey, Wild Turkey...plus a delicious meal and an exciting hockey game at Artie's place. Yep, ILE is a tough place to photograph and relax!! Thanks again for your hospitality Artie

Here;s one from the evening before calling it a day. I was photographing the cranes in silhouette when this fella suddenly called out just as then sun was going down behind the horizon across the lake...what luck! I did tone down the brightest part of the yellows as they were pratically blown white.

Canon 7D + 100-400L @275mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/5.6, ISO 400, (settings histogram checked) natural light, handheld (lying flat on the ground), full-frame image.

Lovley image - I will have to start trying these sort of images. I love the call pose and the little details like the tongue and the see through nasal cavity.

Creatively seen and executed. Would have been nice without the calling pose, but that makes it special. Love this one, Daniel.

Amazing atmoshpere, great image! Would liked to see a bit more space on the left, but further it is perfect!

Hi Dan, an opportunity well used here. Well timed to capture the calling pose with the open bill, and silhouette's always work against colourful BG's.

I'm awfully fond of this picture. Most evocative, Daniel. I love the fiery colors and see-through nosehole!

Aside from the techs being right on, this one just has a great mood to it, Daniel. Fine image!
