    Found this Nuthatch while looking for Pileated WP just as a ray of sun peaked through the forest canopy.
    D300 , AF-S 300mmm 2.8 + TC 1.4E .
    F 5.6 , iso 400 , 1/640 , -0.7ev.

    Almost my favorite bird, the perfect pose, it seems a bit soft.

    nice pose and the prey item adds more, agree with a tad more sharpening.

    Very nice image with bird in classic pose. Amazing how they decend the trunk holding on with that rear spur. I like the prey in it's beak too.

    Classic nuthatch pose. Natural prey and clean background make this one extra nice. I could see a bit more sharpening, but not much.

    I love the insect prey, not often we see that in images of nuthatches. The face looks sharp to me. I'd prefer 1/3 less tree, and 1/3 more space in front of the subject...very subjective though.
