From Fort Desoto's North Beach Lagoon. I was lucky to have this fella all by myself one early morning, nobody was around yet...no one wanted the sweet first light? This guy was patrolling beyond the roped-off area, but fortunately it came over close enough for proper images

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/6.3, ISO 800 (histogram checked), natural light, handheld, small rotation then cropped the corners off. Minor water clean-up (3 or 4 specks removed via Spot Removal Tool).

Lovely image Daniel. Especially love the placement and the inclusion of the wake.

Beautiful photo Daniel. I love the calmness of the water and the reflection. Colors, sharpness and exposure are great as usual. I like the points on both ends, tail feather balancing the beak.

    Daniel:

You snooze you loose! Nice job of catching the early light, being in the right spot at the right time.

Clean water, sharp, exposure, pose, all good.

Slightly unconventional framing, which works very well here.

    Cheers

Beautiful image! Composition is lovely, light, colours, pose all look great. A minor nit is the blurred leg but I guess you couldn't do much about it with the available low light.

The light is indeed sweet. Almost perfect reflection too.

love the light, the hazy reflection and the stillness of the water apart from the wake.

    Beautiful shot Daniel,

I like the comp a lot, with the trailing water. Without the nice water trail I'd crop differently, but this really works well.
