    Default Iris among Iris

Here is another image I took in my outing with John last weekend.................I applied three Shadowhouse textures in low opacity layers.............no filters. Lots of light adjusting to taste. Hope you like it..........I have several versions with various vignettes and drama, but I was after a pastel/painterly feel and subdued light. Comments please.............

Wow. This is beautiful. Great composition. The yellow in the lower left opposite the larger yellow area diagonally opposite works really well. The water drops are special, particularly where they fall in the composition. The subdued glow in the upper part is magical. And you have that wonderful curve leading back to it. Very nicely done.

Hey, Jay, another beauty! I especially like the yellow in the bottom LH corner that balances the yellow in the top of the image and the subtle textures. Nice work

Jay, this is outstanding. It has such a peaceful simple beauty about it. Your processing is perfect.

It's lovely. The flow to the image and the soft color tones work well together.

Jay, I like the processing on this one...subtle tones that enhance the light, subtle contrast but enough of it, and the composition is rock solid. I don't know about you but one of the things I struggle with when shooting Iris is where to cut off the composition..so many delicate curves and folds, one leading to the other, that the flow is almost endless; an example of this is in your image is where the two petals fold into a sweep at the top of the image...and the flow of that one, large gorgeous petal in the LR...where to stop? Your image strikes a very good balance, but my eye is left wanting to see just a bit more..then again, any more might upset the balance of what you have captured. Does that make sense?

Yes, you are so right. One of the reasons, I struggle with these flowers, I can have problems framing them in the viewfinder!. I have more space to the left and bottom......and wanted more at the bottom, especially the LLC, but the tip of the right pedal is not too cool and the background in the LRC is a problem I couldn't solve..so I cropped it out. The way I framed this, was kind of a compromise.....I could go other ways on it. Thanks, John.

I want to crawl inside this Iris and go to sleep! Love the result you achieved with the textures--just right. Well done!

Wow is right, Jay! Nicely seen and just awesome soft light, color, and textures. Water beads are great touch.
