sid, you sure have some beautiful birds up there in chicago. i still say if you get a flash and better beamer you can eliminate those shadows!! great compo on this one. just wish the shadows werent there.

Hi Sid The light is coming from our hard left You did get a good exposure on the left side but the right being in shadows is way under !!! I really think you need a perch !!!! You are getting some pleasing bg with good looking birds !!!

Hey Sid, nice composition and lovely bird. Agree with Al regarding the shadows.

Hey, cool, a Dark-eyed Junco. Miss seeing those since I'm down in South Florida. I would imagine they would only hang around Chicago for a few more weeks, so enjoy them while they are still present. Tough to photograph from this light angle unless you use fill flash (and it's still not easy). Try placing the sun at your back so that the full bird is illuminated. Good luck!

Ditto on the nice Junko Sid. We usually have only the Oregon Junko here on the Calif. north coast, although a fellow birder in Ukiah had a Junko like yours for several days at her feeder earlier this month. The shadows and sun angle have been covered..

I don't mind the shadows so much in this one. I think the side lighting works here. I added a catchlight and sharpened a tiny bit more.
