Hi folks. I've been busy photographing for 2 of the last 3 weeks, so I haven't been much of a presence on BPN. A friend and I tried our hands at nighttime owl photography during our trip to SE Arizona; it was a lot of fun! But locating and photographing owls can be a real challenge at night. Elf owls are small: something like 5 inches tall with a 10 inch wingspan. They are also the lightest owls in the world, weighing in at 1.4 ounces. Not easy to spot in a tree under cover of night. The 5D Mark III performed as advertised in the low light AF department; that is to say very well. Locking focus on a 5 inch subject at a distance of 30-40 feet illuminated only by flashlight is a real test of AF. The 5D3 pulled this off with a TC on my 600. As far as processing goes, I blurred a leaf in the RLC, but did no cloning.
