Rivals meet! I was able to get off about 10 shots a one bird challenged the other. What was so interesting was that they never touched! Very cool behavior to witness! Cropped from horizontal to full vertical. As usual, low IQ due to crop and inferior gear. I gotta find some $$$!!

    Camera Model: NIKON D300, HH
    Shutter speed: 1/2500 sec
    Aperture: 7.1
    Exposure mode: Manual
    Flash: Off
    Metering mode: Multi-segment
    ISO: 800
    Lens: 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6
    Focal length: 400mm

    AF mode: AF-C

Great behaviour captured! Exposure control looks spot on! I can't see much fine details on the birds - maybe too much NR ?

I love the interaction and the wingspread of the right bird. I wish we could see more detail in the eye area of both birds,

Very neat interaction, it must have been fun to watch. There does seem to be the effect of some heavy NR here, but the main detractor was the very harsh light.

Fine action captured. Not easy with your lens. You did well with what you have. Nice exposure and fine idea with a vertical crop.
