Just back from Florida. Spent 2 great days on the Hooptie Deux and met Daniel and Marina and Nicki Gwynne-Jones and of course James Shadle. All terrific people ( but then, aren't all bird photographers). Our first morning had very "iffy " weather with cloud and cold and wind from the wrong direction. My ISO was 1600 at 9:05 am.

I like the high key and ethereal quality in this image. I deliberately did not adjust contrast or blacks to keep picture light and airy.PP in LR3 and CS5
Comments and critiques always learned from and appreciated with thanks,

Hi Gail, I like the high key and soft colors of the baby spoonie. Especially, the transparant look of the feathers add great to the image. Head turn in such a way that you see both eyes. The black edges on the top feathers is a nice feature as well. I like it.
Melissa and I are sitting at a Burrowing Nest waiting for fuzz balls to reappear and decided BPN might offer some diversion. We both love the high key effect and the landing pose. Has a painterly and ethereal effect. Nice job making lemonade out of lemons. Looking forward to more. One chick up. Got to go.
Lovely display of the wings here, with lots of detail from the transillumination. I think the soft, high key effect works very well for this soft young spoonie!
Funny you should mention Nicki, as this is the type of image she loves!
