    Taken on my trip with James last month ....

    I have never seen a pelican with nesting material before. Usually I see them with fish.

    Camera: Canon EOS 40D + 500 4.0L from tripod
    Exposure: 1/1250
    Aperture: f/5.6
    Focal Length: 500 mm
    ISO Speed: 800
    Exposure Bias: +1 EV om Av mode.

    HI Mike Sometimes they come back with some serious lumber !!!!

    Did well with the exposure Got the building material away form the eye and all sharp Can only wish for a different wing position so it would have more direct light !!!!

    I like the way the wings match the slope of the trees in the BG.

    To me that looks like a piece of rope in its bill?? (if so it belongs in hand of man, if not, ignore this :-) ) A beautiful blue sky would have been preferable to the white here, but still very nice!

    Great catch, I have only seen them do that over at the boat. Good twig ;)
