Default Sanderling - Anastasia State Park, Florida

Spent a few days in Florida last week attending the Florida Birding & Photo Fest. This was my first trip to Florida and I finally figured out why they call it a paradise for bird lovers. Here is a Sanderling in early morning light on the beach of Anastasia State Park.

Handheld shot with Canon 7D and Canon 70-300mm f4-5.6L.

    Cropping and some post-processing.

Really nice. Shorebirds have to be my favourite! Nice camera angle and beautiful light. Exposure seems spot on. I would try to open up the eye a little to see if there's any detail there. I think I like the crop but something tells me that there might be a better one. For a framed image on the wall I would lose the two dark splotches in the BG, centre and left.

Thanks, John. I love shorebirds as well. They're usually very co-operative if one is a bit careful.

I always have challenges cropping an image. This is the crop I liked when I was working on it. I'm sure this image can be cropped in different ways.

Agree with you on the splotches.

    Thanks again for your comments.

Nice job Mohib! I love the beautiful warm light, the pose, and the setting. Please post your technical info. I'm most interested in the shutter speed, as I feel the image could be a bit sharper and camera shake could be an issue in this lighting situation. Love the creamy whites!
