I went back and forth in my mind about possibly cloning out the rock in front of the heron and tried it both ways. I think I like it better with the rock.

Love the wing tip in the water and no problems from me with the rock.

Very nice wing dip. Good IQ and love the ripples in the water and the color. Nice light as well.I think I would also like it without the rock,

Wow, great capture and I actually like the rock as well. Great reflection in the calm water as well.

    Hey Ian,
I think the light and dip is very nice....I'm with Gail on the rock eviction. Very nicely done overall.

Thanks, folks. When I get home from work I'll try to remember to pull out the one I did without the rock and post it for comparison.

Beautiful details and techs on the subject!! I love the wingtip dip, very cool. I would have preferred the complete rock, or none at all. I would also love to see more reflection at bottom...I suspect you don't have more of it?

Nice detail and the wingtip striking the water is neat. Nice fg and bg and like Daniel I think the whole reflection at the bottom would have been great.

Ian, wonderful shot. the wing dip is special, yes. perfect shooting and subject angles. loved the water. Good call on the f-stop. At this size, without-refl is what I'd have done as well. As-is bird size in the frame is perfect...not too tight, not too loose. I agree with your positioning of it as well.

Thanks. I have a touch more reflection, but not much, so thought it best to leave it out. Same goes for the rock -- I don't have any more of it.

Timed perfectly, the water looks great, I would probably get rid of the rock, but it is fine as is.

Here it is without the rock (CS5 content-aware). Thoughts?

Hi Ian, well timed to get the wing dip, and great sharp detail on the heron. Here's what I would like to see - a little off the top, add more to the bottom, even though you may not have all the reflection, and Im not too fussy with the rock in or out.
