    Default Red Shafted Flicker

Huge crop (maybe too large), about 10% of original.
Difficult forest shot with a lot of branches, etc., around, thus the big crop
but the Flicker was at a nest in the tree, I was hoping for a chick to stick its head out,
    but I liked this anyway.

For those interested in what a "big crop" with the D800 is, here is the original, just converted to jpeg.

That is pretty amazing! Image doesn't look that bad considering the huge crop! Looks like a wonderful camera!

Looks like the area has great potential. The tree that the nest is on has some nice features,
especially the moss, and I like the texture of the bark. I think the details on the crop are starting
to fall apart a bit, and you can see some fine smudging around the head area from where you did
    PS work on the background.

I very much like the tree in this image. It adds a lot of interest. The camera really handled the crop well. You did a good job adjusting your BG behind the bird's head.

Hi Dan, good result from a large crop, and I do like the various details and colours on this species. The moss on the tree trunk does add a little more to the image.

Truly remarkable for the large crop but I can see the quality starting drop away especially on the head. I like the tree the nest is in. I hope you can revisit the site and get more images.
