My name is Robert and live in Ottawa, Canada. I am in my mid 50's and took up photography just over 1 year ago. I've developed a passion for nature photography since buying my first DSLR at a Boxing Day sale. I spend most of my weekends out hiking the trails or walking along rivers and lakes observing the wildlife and appreciating how beautiful nature really is. After all of this time being alive i am seeing things that i never noticed before and probably didn;t even know existed. Photography has opened my eyes after all these years. It has been a constant source of pleasure for me since taking it up and i have made a lot of contacts and friends with similar interests because of it.
There is not much that compares to spotting some bird, getting a great shot and then sharing it with my fiends and family. One of my greatest moments so far were when i spotted my first snowy owl about 1 month ago. I was using a new camera and was using it for the first time. I managed to get a couple of mediocre shots of it. But i was thrilled to have finally seen one. I went back to the area about 2 weeks later after going through the learning curve with my new gear. I spotted the snowy again and managed to get a good "in-flight" photo of it. Now THAT was a thrill !
I look forward to sharing and learning while visiting this fine site.
I can relate when it comes to the thrill of it all. A great hobby, and you've found the right place to help you learn and grow as a bird / nature photographer.
