Hello all, It's my first time posting a image although I've been looking at all the great images for a while now. The Harris's Sparrows have been with us for the last several winters at our backyard feeder set up. Every once in a while they'll hop up on the perch above our bird bath. Looking forward to comments and eager to learn. Thanks for looking.

The sparrow looks a bit soft, maybe another round of sharpening, but the perch is great and the colors are very nice.

Beautiful background colours, nice head angle and eye contact. It's a treasure to have such a rare bird to have been your backyard bird, Bred. Nits already mentioned.

    Brad:

Congrats on your first BPN post.

Good comments above. THe bird and perch do look a bit soft, unclear where your focus point was. Neat perch, colors in the background, nice angle of the bird in frame.

I will sometimes use a low opacity clone stamp (25-30%) to soften some of the out of focus bright highlights in the BG.

Because I do a lot of waterfowl shots, I am a fan of pano style crops. I think you could crop a small amount off the top here.

    Looking forward to more.

    Cheers

Welcome Brad and thanks a stack for your membership support. I had no clue that this species stopped in TX on migration. Ditto all the plusses above. For the repost I cleaned up the background using a 40% Clone Stamp Tool and Denise Ippolito's Protect and Defend Cloning on the dark area near the tail. Then Unsharp Mask on the whole thing at 161/.3.

Image quality looked a bit lacking as there were pixelations along the edges of the bird.....
