Another critter from my day at the Toronto Zoo. This is a Blue Poison Dart Frog photographed through the glass terrarium with off camera flash. Used the Glow 100 preset in Fractalius with lots of tweaking of the various sliders and then finished it off in Nik's Viveza.
Andrew, this is a really interesting frog...and a very different Fractalius image for you in some ways. So many of your images have a distinct separation of the frog and the surrounding elements...dark water, for example...or a single, integrated element with the frog...a lily pad, the stump the frog is resting on, etc. This one is much more complex...I almost wish you had darkened the background elements of red and green, or evicted them, giving a great sense of depth/separation...I can't decide! As always, a great job of filtering and processing, and, in this instance, of shooting through the glass without distracting reflections! Keep those frogs coming!
Andrew, You are getting some lovely images for your frog book! I agree with John and would darken the green in the URC. Love the colors and the effect!
Thanks folks for the kind words and suggestions. I will tend to the green leaf in the URC. Judy, part of the glow might be from the glass. The terrarium that housed these frogs had a somewhat domed design to it which is why the frogs hind feet are blurred and may have contributed to part of the effect with the fract.
