I had not seen the Coyotes in my local refuge for a couple of months.
It was nice to see one again yesterday.
You can see what the Pacific Northwest looks like after the winter rains!
A young female I think, losing the winter coat and giving a big yawn.

Just love the lush greens and how the almost-bland colours of the coyote actually pop out from them. Nice pose, good details in soft light, and IQ looks VERY good ...how are you finding the D800 for wildlife/birding?

Thanks Morkel, check the Otter thread below. That is 20% of in camera 1.2 crop.
    The D800 is fantastic.

Dan, I'll trade you a bucket of chipmunks for a coyote. Here in grazing country coyotes do not stand around while someone points something at them! Love the yawn and agree with Morkel about the greens vs. the tan coyote.

Dan - great IQ and good timing on the yawn. Must have had the usual Pacific NW rains this year. Looking forward to more spring coyote images.

Hi Dan, a very nice looking Coyote.

I just wonder Dan if there is a fraction too much yellow & green coming through, although you can still keep the vibrant grass, I might suggest:
    - Dropping both the Yellow & Greens in Saturation
    - " " Yellow & Blue in the Whites
    - Adding a bit more mid tone for depth/form

It still holds the green lush feel, but takes some of the cast out of the subject.

IQ is tops and teh colors look great to me. I would maybe play with the levels to darken it a bit but otherwise I love it!

Hi Dan, this is where I was thinking in my thoughts. Not sure how Nikon sRGB compares to Adobe sRGB?

Hope this helps and you don't mind.

    cheers

I would love to give the D800 a try, full Res image must be mind blowing Great IQ and sharpness Dan. I feel this image would improve with a bit more space at the bottom TFS

Steve, thanks and I like yours also.
The D800 is getting reviews that it has a green caste, which I have not been tweaking as I just am getting use to it, have only shot about 150 shots. I am now looking at other files and see the same green caste in them.
I will have to look into this.
    I appreciate your time.

Hi Dan, I'm only trying to pick up things and add my thoughts like the rest of the contributors, however if it aids you then great.

    All the best.

Very nice composition and colors here. Steve's re-post takes it to perfection.
