    Default Hoggwarts...

    ...or rather, warthoggs...

I don't think these guys are the prettiest in the animal kingdom - far from it - but they sure are characters and look pretty odd while often displaying peculiar behaviour.

This one was taken in late afternoon light close to the road in the Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa. I like how the dark/shaded BG makes him 'pop'...

    Techs:
    Canon 7D with 100-400mm L IS USM
    f7.1 @ 1/800 SS @ ISO-640
    just about full frame
I know it's a tad tight at the bottom...cropped out the edge of the road

Hi Morkel, both crop and light works well, nice detail where it counts too. Wonder about popping a fraction more sat on the eye only?

Lovely IQ and light mate. Looks like a nice size pig...I enjoy the dried mud on the nose!

Agree with the others above,i would add a bit more saturation just a bit.just to make the yellows a bit more orange.

Morkel - sweet light and detail. Not always easy to get a good shot of these as they are so often running away. I do agree with your self-critique about it being a bit tight below.

    Morkel,

Where on earth did you find a Warthog in Addo

I think they are not at all ugly and make for very interesting subjects, and are nearly always fun to watch
