I took a tip from Daniel and used a bird call to get this photo of a wren. I have to say it worked instantly, so thanks Daniel for the tip. Anyway, I would really appreciate your comments on my photo and any advice for improving it. I did actually over expose it but have hopefully recovered it in Lightroom 3 and PS. I'm not sure if I've over sharpened it. Apologies that it's only 800 pixel

The pose, tail position, open mouth and stump make this a beauty, I might have cropped a bit more from the right, so bird not so centered...maybe darken he bird just a bit, all types of wrens respond redily to calls...nice capture

I like the old post and the open beak and the pose. The bg is unique; what was it? I think the wren and post are still too bright and I can see a sharpening halo around parts of the wren.

Thanks for the comments. Looking at it I tend to agree that the bird and post are a bit bright. I'll reduce that. The background is in fact OOF reeds. I cloned out a small stick and just added some blur.

I've found these birds really hard to photograph as they're so quick so all in all, I'm fairly pleased with this capture.

    Thanks again.

Thanks Jack. Interestingly, I got criticised heavily on a UK photography forum for using this method. Not sure why the over reaction as long as a sensible approach is used. I think Daniels article on the do's and don't's of this method was spot on. Still I suppose everybody is entitled to their opinion.
