    Well after Jon Ashton splendid post I said I would go back to the Supermarket

    No processing on this other than weak NR Topaz, Smart Sharp - 50, 0.5

    Feedback if you like and you may also suggest if its a little pale -

    Focus, single spot LOC, Av mode
    7D 100-400 hand held Ev +1.23 ISO 400 f 5.6 1/250

    Hi Richard. Great image of an under photographed bird and also one massively in decline! Like the head turn myself. As for the processing, personally would go half way between the two.

    The pose and head turn catches all the distinctive features of this under-rated bird. I agree your editing wants to be somewhere in between - keeping detail in the black bib!
