Default Great Crested Grebe with breakfast

    Attached Images Attached Images

Just packing up to head home and the pair of Great Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus) finally decided to join me. Even with overcast skies, this one was filling the histogram to both ends. Also filling up with fish! (Stickleback?)

Canon 1D MkIII, EF500mm, Gitzo tripod, Mongoose head - flat on the ground
    1/640 sec at f/6.3, ISO 800
Tweak in Lightroom 3, then PS 5 adjusted levels, Topaz Detail on subject, NIK DFine NR on background.

    Background too dark?

    Thanks for looking,

    Gerald

Terrific shot. I love the colors of the bird against the green of the water. Great look on the fish, and the water drops. Turn of the head is nice, but might have wished for a bit more.

Nice image Gerald. I like the BG as presented. Nice capture. I like being able to see both the fish and the Grebe's eyes. Water drops add a lot to the image. Possibly a little too much OOF FG for my taste but no biggy.

Agree with Bill on this one. Terrific shot just a tad more head turn needed. Otherwise fantastic.
