Captured at the Salton Sea, this Caspian Tern was banking to my left. Shot in late afternoon light. These birds are quite a challenge when in flight, but great fun to watch and try to capture! The clouds were added by me in CS5 with a cloud brush.

Hi Kerry. I like the head-turn and good light on the face.

I need to learn how to make clouds like that. One downside (for a photographer, anyway) of Phoenix weather is that we have (can you believe it) too many totally cloud-free days.

Ian, I am totally with you on the clear blue skies. Who would think that this would be a problem, but out here in the west we have many more days without clouds than with...

P.S. - thanks for commenting! I thought I was going for a record like "the most views with no comments" or some such.

Ian, I do not. It is a simple matter of getting cloud brushes (Google) and applying them to your bg sky.

    Kerry,

Greetings. Speaking of the clouds... you might want to fix the repeat (above head and just off the right side wing) and maybe the less obvious bottom diagonal (3 copies - 1st left edge bottom of cloud then 2 more along that diagonal). Nice looking tern bif...

    Cheers,
