Lovely detail, I like the water droplets on his head. The slight head turn helps as opposed to being absolutely head on, the right wing tip is a fraction out of focus but for me it doesn't really matter.

    Don:

Striking image, well exposed, generally sharp, great pose, like the drop on top. Bird is pretty centered, which works OK with this pose, but I might try a version with a sliver off the right, because of his subtle gaze to the left of the frame.

Sounds like you had a great morning!

    Cheers

Stunning shot, Don. we dont see many woodie shots in open blue water. the symmetry is great. the slight head turn giving nice view of the eye is making a big difference IMO.

The blurred water next to the in-focus water (below the bird..left side of the frame)..does not look right. am guessing that was where the Mallard was. If mine, I'd re-do the cloning there.

Agree with the above comments! I do feel it needs some CW by the looks of the water but that would put him on a lean.

Hi Don, perfect wing flap, and I do like the underwing feather detail. Good to see the colours on the head, and the droplet does add interest. I like the colour of the water too.
