    Default Troglodyte!

Always amuses me greatly that this cute little bird has the binomial of "Troglodytes troglodytes" - a name I imagine appropriate for a Jurassic monster. But there you are!

This one is preparing her nest by a local lake, so I am hoping to see more of her in the coming weeks.

Canon EOS1d Mk III, 500mm + 1.4x Extender = 700mm, 1/640 at f5.6, iso 800 - Gitzo tripod flat on the mud. Light touch of Topaz Detail, Tonal Contrast, and Dfine NR on the background.

    Thanks for looking; comments appreciated.

Hi Gerald, I like the alert pose with the cocked tail. Sharp where it counts, and I do like the smooth BG. Is the perch natural?

Hi Stu, Yes, the wrens were building a nest in a clump of reeds and stopped off on the way in and out to perch on a piece of root sticking out of the water (background). I would have liked more DOF but didn't want to go higher in ISO or lower in shutter speed.
    Regards, Gerald

beautiful - love the diagonals, the detail in the head and the clean colors and composition.
