One of the sparrows who frequently visit my feeding station. I liked the raised foot. All C & C welcome.

Excellent work here...good pose, light and detail background....and I love that foot up! The cheek may be just a touch over sharpened?

I'd be happy with this in my bag.

From the thumbnail, I thought this was a bit too dark. But opened up it looks good. The bird stands out nicely against the darker background. Raised foot is great!

It's all to do with the vagaries of English weather and light! One minute it is bright then it is dull as ditch water.

I think you have wonderful detail in this portrait, Jonathan. I like the raised foot too though I wish it stood out more. Can you selectively lighten that area just a little? And did you try to raise the shadows at all on the tail?
    Really nice sparrow portrait.

Hi Melissa I can brighten the foot area a little, I think there would be no point in brightening the tail as it is in dark shadow and all it would do serve to amplify noise.

The light is nice, if anything I would tone down the pine needles.
The bird looks just a bit oversharpened, but it is probably file compression for posting.
    Nice work.

Thanks for the comments everyone, on refection I think I did oversharpen a tad, I did wonder at the time if I had overcooked it just a little (currently using a different processing algorithm).
