40D. 400f5.6L at f/8. 1/2000s. iso320. I have been photographing them at this spot for three years now. Just before they leave( usually late march early april), they have the best plumage( the head gear, the pouch color, the hump etc.) and numbers are down...so its easier to isolate one and wait for a nice pose. This one is definitely one of the better individuals that I have seen. All comments welcome.

Sharp, beautiful colors, well composed and full of detail. I love it.

Whites and the detail look very good as do the yellows. The eye is super sharp.

Beautiful portrait shot. Great job exposing the whites and nice BG.

Sweet bird and image. Nice light and water color. Perfect head angle. This bird is only starting to get into breeding plumage. The horn gets a lot bigger and they have a ton of black on the face. But that only on the breeding grounds. All in all excellent.

Real nice portrait! I have never seen this bump on the upper part of the beak : is it a malformation or something that only happens while in the breeding phase?

    Very good whites!

Hi Kaus, excellent whites with oodles of detail, and just love that eye. I like your choice of comp, together with the colour of the water.
